Many of you might've known this but it's the first time I've heard it. It's so true too. Can't wait to get my 5-point harnesses lol. I can't find the site right now but it's neat on how they say it can actually help your driving. It's not so much as on the road as on the track but they say it keeps your mind on the race rather than having to think about how your going to brace yourself. They said they have seen people after a race with just a regular seat belt that come out with bruises from bracing themselves. Also they grip the steering will a lot easier. Instead of using the steering wheel as a brace it flows though their hands making their driving a lot better
1998 Neon R/T DOHC: AEM cold air intake, booger racing shifter bushings, B&M short shifter, MSD Ignition blaster coil, 8mm wires, 16 in. Maxxim Rumor rims with Toyo Proxes FZ4, Autometer oil pressure and voltmeter gauges. polygrafite motor mounts
Yeah it can help, as will a nicely-bolstered aftermarket seat.
I've always told people that the seats are the weakest link in my ACR's suspension. It'll corner harder but I'm holding onto the steering wheel for dear life.
It doesn't help that at some point in my car's life it had the seats swapped out for highline units with less bolstering in the same fabric.
I prefer not run a full harness on a car with no cage, just in case of rollover. A removable belt system like they talk about in the new Grassroots Motorsports would be cool though.
If all goes well my car will have a set of cheap Sparco fixed-back buckets in it before the end of the year.
