VERY important news on IM scamming

(btw, i'm copying this over from my posts on 2gn.org and too lazy to edit it, so just ignore any 2gn specific comments
)
i know this isn't exactly new, but it's still very good info that everyone should be aware of regarding a scam having to do with popular IM programs.

bumping this as there has been some *unconfirmed* reports of hacked AIM users here on 2gn.org. if you get a message asking you to click on a link to pics, DO NOT CLICK on the link, and if you should happen to click the link accidentally DO NOT download any file from the link. these messages will be coming from people that have you on their buddy list (as this is what the hackers are using), so make sure the person who has sent you a message is in fact truely the person who owns the account. something that should be noted is that these hacked accounts seem to not respond to messages sent to them, and will only AND repeatedly send you these messages with links. so, the messages the hackers are trying to entice you to click are generic, and here are a few examples:
"youll want to see this" "look at my pics" "check out these pics" "check out these new pics" "check out the tsunami recovery pics" "look at this!"
these messages include links to such URL addresses as follows (note, the full address has not been included for your security, but most end with /gallery or pictures.php):
[DO NOT CLICK THESE]
http://hersinc.net/
http://greatn.t35.com/
http://cutiepics.t35.com/
[DO NOT CLICK THESE]
possible hacked AIM accounts:
evilcreation919
z3roneo
xUNSUPERMANx
e3ecoupdetat
The Witch DOHC
also going along with this is a yahoo problem. if a link should happen to take you to a page asking you for a log in name and password, DO NOT log in/fill in password without first making sure it is a genuine yahoo page (honestly, even if you are sure, i still would receommend you NOT fill in username/password). look very closely at the address as well as the copyright and privacy info at the bottom of the page, as they can be VERY deceiving.
